Fair and Responsible Banking Senior Compliance Officer Location Phoenix, AZ (Central City area) : Job Title: Fair and Responsible Banking Senior Compliance Officer Location: CityScape What you'll do: The Fair & Responsible Banking (F&RB) Senior Compliance Officer (Sr Compliance Officer) will work with the Associate Compliance Director to develop, implement, enhance, and maintain the fair and responsible banking program. This role serves as a subject matter expert primarily in UDAAP requirements ensuring marketing and advertising material comply with fair and responsible banking standards and consumer complaints filed against Western Alliance Bank (Bank) do not represent systemic issues where consumers are treated unfairly, are deceived by the Bank, or are subjected to abusive practices. The Sr Compliance Officer must also possess sufficient knowledge of other banking laws and regulations where violations of the requirements may result in consumer harm including, but not limited to, ECOA and Regulation B, Fair Housing Act, UDAP, FCRA, Truth in Lending, HMDA, SCRA, and MLA. The Senior Compliance Officer: What we are looking for:
- Will, along with members of the Advisory and Guidance team in Corporate Compliance, provide second-line independent oversight and guidance regarding business products, services, and processes to ensure the Bank complies with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Will work with the Bank Marketing department personnel and other F&RB staff to review marketing collateral and advertising material to ensure it is free of UDAAP concerns, contains accurate disclosures as required, and clearly describes the features and restrictions associated with the Bank products and services being marketed.
- Will assist with the management, analysis and reporting of complaints filed against the Bank to ensure Bank processes, products and services do not result in discrimination, unfair banking practices or other actions that create consumer harm.
Responsibilities - Assist the Fair and Responsible Banking Associate Compliance Director to implement, enhance, and maintain a Fair and Responsible Banking Program.
- Work with the lines of business to understand compliance impacts from new products or services, and/or changes to product offerings and business changes.
- Review and opine on marketing material and advertisements related to Bank products and services with a focus on identifying and reporting any UDAAP related concerns.
- Effectively identify trends and perform root cause analysis related to complaints filed against the Bank.
- Ensure training plan includes general awareness and role-based fair and responsible banking training as needed.
- Provide subject matter expertise and guidance related to fair lending and servicing laws and regulations to strengthen processes, procedures, and controls for the lines of business.
- Stay current with industry best practices and guidance relating to fair and responsible banking.
- Actively participate in Compliance Department meetings by providing topics for discussion and reporting on areas of weakness identified through the monitoring and testing program or other compliance concerns that may periodically arise.
- Ensure internal records used to track issues and action plans are sufficient, appropriate, and kept up to date.
- Track remediation of identified issues to ensure timely implementation by the line of business.
- Maintain proactive and effective relationships with First Line of Defense stakeholders to gain insight into compliance risks associated with line of business activities, objectives, practices, processes, and overall control environment.
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years of compliance, risk, or auditing experience is required.
- Previous experience working in a Fair and Responsible Banking program is preferred.
- Strong understanding of applicable federal and state banking laws and regulations with the ability to promptly research regulatory requirements, especially as they pertain to a Fair and Responsible Banking program.
- Strong understanding of compliance risk management principles and role in advising and providing guidance on bank laws, rules and regulations, and related policies and procedures.
- Ability to clearly define scope and identify root cause of problem, research potential solutions, and engage stakeholders in discussion to obtain First Line of Defense engagement; escalation as appropriate.
- Strong capability to analyze documentation, research solutions, and present recommendations to stakeholders for implementation of non-complex problems.
- Ability to identify and understand key risks, issues, and trends and develop meaningful information to be shared with leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and obtain First Line of Defense engagement regarding risk ownership and mitigation activities.
- Ability to think strategically.
- Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation is preferred.
Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $88,045.00 - $103,582.00 for Westlake Village, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
