This position will plan and manage the work of Regional Center (RC) Liaison/Review Teams to comprehensively monitor the actions and efforts of the RCs to ensure they meet statutory, regulatory and contractual obligations, and uphold the values of the Lanterman Act. The RCs are private, non-profit agencies that provide services in the community to individuals with developmental disabilities under the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act. This position will perform the most complex and/or sensitive assignments related to RC oversight and operational issues.
This position is eligible to participate in DDS’ hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to DDS’ guidelines.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Knowledge of : The Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act, developmental disabilities, the RC service system, and processes and protocols in California state government. Principles, practices and trends of public and business administration including management, supportive staff services, and employee supervision. Formal and informal aspects of the legislative process. Administration and Department’s goals and policies.
Ability to : Supervise and train subordinate staff. Develop and maintain cooperative and harmonious relationships with Department and RC staff, the public and others; work with professional personnel in the field relating to coordinating and developing services for persons with developmental disabilities. Analyze situations accurately and take effective action. Excellent communication skills and reason logically and creatively. Analyze data and present information and ideas effectively. Review and edit written reports and establish and maintain project priorities.

Reporting Location:
Headquarter location will be designated on the selected candidate's primary residence location. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
All DDS staff are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings. Upon receipt of a formal offer, proof of current California residency may be required.
