Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Director to oversee the daily activities of our diverse medical team and to serve as the bridge between our organization and the community. This role is vital in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe medical services at our clinical site, along with supervising all healthcare providers at the location.
Major Duties and Essential Functions

Health Outcomes:
Model exceptional patient care and provide guidance to medical staff.
Supervise and support providers to ensure safe, compliant care that meets organizational policies.
Lead quality improvement initiatives and engage the team in these efforts.
Analyze available data and develop actionable plans to meet center goals, sharing insights with the team.
Promote best clinical practices and encourage ongoing medical education.
Conduct thorough analyses of incident reports to identify systemic issues and solutions.
Oversee the peer review process, providing constructive feedback to ensure standards are met.
Patient Experience:
Review patient experience data and translate findings into actionable steps to create a welcoming environment.
Investigate patient complaints, especially those related to quality of care, and provide appropriate feedback and counseling.
Recruit and hire mission-driven providers who are culturally competent and well-trained.
Collaborate with site leaders to streamline workflows for efficiency.
Manage provider schedules, ensuring proper coverage for all absences.
Work with the leadership team to enhance patient flow and care access.
Care Team Well-being:
Support new provider onboarding, offering guidance and regular check-ins.
Foster teamwork through regular huddles, debriefs, and problem-solving sessions.
Conduct monthly provider meetings to enhance communication and support.
Develop provider schedules that promote smooth clinic operations and allow for team refreshment.
Advocate for manageable workloads and necessary support for all team members.
Recognize and celebrate the achievements of providers and staff.
Mentor and coach staff to help them reach their full potential.
Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Financial Health:
Monitor site productivity and explore opportunities to enhance visit volume.
Manage provider capacity, addressing no-show rates and optimizing scheduling templates.
Ensure adequate staffing levels and monitor walk-in volumes.
Collaborate with leadership in the development and management of the site's budget.
Additional Responsibilities:
Partner with Health Center Directors and Nurse Managers to support clinic management initiatives.
Communicate regularly with providers and staff about organizational and site-specific initiatives.
Engage with Specialty Directors regarding departmental issues.
Participate in monthly meetings for Medical Directors and quality improvement discussions.
Serve on committees as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.
Perform other duties as needed to support our mission.
Minimum Qualifications
Current DC License, CDS, and DEA registrations.
Graduate of an accredited Medical School and Residency Program (required for sites supporting residents).
Board eligible or board certified in the area of specialty.
At least two years of experience in an ambulatory care setting, with preference for experience with homeless patients.
Managerial experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Willingness to accept on-call duties as part of a regular rotation.

Physical Effort and Work Environment

Risks
The position may involve routine risks and discomforts typical of office environments, requiring normal safety precautions. The workspace is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. All medical services will be provided according to accepted community standards of care. Employees must provide evidence of a recent health assessment, including PPD and/or chest x-ray results.
