Job Description



The General Maintenance Technician maintains, repairs, and supports the Development department by performing preventive maintenance and other duties as directed by Development leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance projects, work orders, and preventive maintenance on Development projects and any other properties and grounds as instructed by Development leadership.
  • Communicate proactively regarding maintenance issues, processes, and resolutions.
  • Demonstrate general knowledge and understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC system operations, including troubleshooting to identify and mitigate issues.
  • Perform basic plumbing maintenance on toilets, bathtubs, jacuzzi tubs, showers, faucets, and sinks, including unclogging, troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements.
  • Reset or troubleshoot breakers, ballasts, switches, GFCIs, receptacles, bulbs, and other electrical fixtures.
  • Repair interior and exterior walls, wall coverings, and ceilings by patching drywall, replacing wood or wall coverings, applying texture, painting, wallpapering, and installing crown molding and baseboards.
  • Safely use hand tools, electrical and battery-powered tools, and any other relevant tools required for the task.
  • Safely use ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and dust masks, and work in confined or tight spaces.
  • Follow safety guidelines and practices, and recognize and identify potential hazards at project locations and grounds.
  • Communicate and interpret stakeholder needs by positively interacting to achieve resolutions.
  • Properly log maintenance work orders in HotSOS.
  • Leave the work area in a clean, neat, and safe condition and replace fixtures when a project is completed.
  • Follow industry and company safety procedures and practices.
  • Comply with all CFI policies and procedures.
  • Represent Westgate Resorts in a professional manner at all times through appearance, dress, and behavior.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Must be knowledgeable and able to demonstrate skill in using all shop equipment and hand tools.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must adhere to all safety standards and use safety equipment.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years of technical training.
  • A minimum of two years in engineering or maintenance operations in a resort or commercial environment is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • A license in the specified trade from an accredited source in the state where the job is to be performed is preferred.

Language Skills

  • Must have a good command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle several abstract and concrete variables.
