Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineering and Analytics Specialist to join Bentley University Data Engineering and Operations team. This role is centered around leveraging advanced analytics and predictive modeling to enhance decision-making processes, student success, operational efficiency, and other initiatives within the academic environment. This position will play a pivotal role in developing data visualizations, predictive models, conducting comprehensive analytics, and providing insights that support academic and administrative objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop predictive models using statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to forecast trends, identify patterns, and optimize business processes.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to gain insights into large datasets, identify correlations, and uncover hidden patterns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Utilize data visualization tools, such as Power BI, to present findings and communicate insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Design and create interactive dashboards and repots in Power BI to support data-driven decision making.
  • Develop and maintain semantic models, queries, and measures using DAX and Power Query M language.
  • Evaluate model performance, conduct validation tests, and refine algorithms to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in predictive analytics, machine learning, data science techniques, and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Provide recommendations and actionable insights based on analytical findings to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist in the development of data-driven strategies and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field.
  • Proven experience with Power BI, including creating complex reports and dashboards.
  • A minimum of two years of experience with data modeling and building efficient data structures in Power BI
  • A minimum of two years of experience in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working alongside cross-functional teams in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, working independently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data extraction and manipulation.
  • Proven experience in developing predictive models and performing advanced analytics using statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R,
  • Strong understanding of data manipulation, data mining, and feature engineering techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the higher education sector, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in academic data analysis.
  • Knowledge of educational data standards, privacy policies, and compliance requirements related to student data.
  • Certifications in PowerBi advance certification, Azure, data science, machine learning, or related fields, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining high professional standards and continuous learning.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires working on-site several days a month and is not available as a remote role.
  • Typical office setting with extensive computer-based work.
  • May require occasional travel across campus for meetings and other work-related events.
