Job Purpose
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the highest clinical leader within our organization, responsible for the strategic direction, quality, and breadth of clinical services provided to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
As a vital member of the senior executive team, the CMO will champion clinical excellence, foster quality improvement, and prioritize patient safety, ensuring that we consistently exceed patient expectations in their care experience. The role includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
Executive Leadership: Participate actively in the Executive Management Team alongside the CEO and other senior leaders, addressing organizational challenges and strategies during weekly meetings.
Clinical Oversight: Oversee the Clinical Departments, including Medicine, Behavioral Health, and Dental. Ensure adequate staffing, support recruitment efforts for clinical providers, and implement quality programs aligned with our mission.
Collaboration: Meet regularly with clinical directors and engage in the organizational Quality Improvement oversight committee to drive improvement initiatives.
Performance Management: Work closely with the Executive Management Team to establish productivity and quality measures, providing necessary tools and support for all providers to achieve their goals.
Committee Leadership: Chair the Credentialing and Privileging Committee, overseeing credentialing processes and maintaining high standards.
Program Integration: Lead the strategy and integration of all clinical programs, including Care Coordination, HIV, Diabetes, WIC, addiction medicine, and specialty services.
Workflow Approval: Review and approve collaborative clinical workflows, liaising with community partners and ensuring seamless integration with hospitals and health organizations.
Advocacy: Represent our organization at city, state, and national levels, advocating for the support needed to fulfill our mission. This may involve serving on committees and engaging with legislators on healthcare delivery issues.
Patient Care: Dedicate time to seeing patients at least one day per week while managing other responsibilities within the remaining work hours.
Continuous Development: Participate in continuing medical education and enhanced leadership training annually, supported by an annual stipend.
Qualifications
MD with previous management experience.
Strong communicator with exceptional relationship-centered interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented and financially fluent with a hands-on leadership approach.
Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable.
