Job Description

We are a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Guilford County, North Carolina, with multiple locations, and we are seeking a dedicated Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to join our team.

Position Overview:

As the Chief Medical Officer, you will play a vital role in overseeing the clinical operations and ensuring compliance with medical policies, regulations, and performance standards at local, state, and federal levels. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will serve as the primary resource for medical and clinical issues, providing essential medical services as needed.

You will also engage in direct patient care two days a week, facilitating access to inpatient, outpatient, and specialty care services alongside our dedicated team of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the daily clinical and quality functions of the organization.
Establish, monitor, and enhance care standards through performance benchmarks and goals.
Develop strategies to improve clinical performance, efficiency, and compliance across all functions.
Oversee a diverse team of over 25 providers, including MDs, NPs, PAs, and LCSWs.
Collaborate with the CEO on departments linked to clinical functions, such as Behavioral Health, Care Coordination, Nutrition, and Nursing.
Supervise the clinical quality team and work with the Quality Director to achieve quality goals and improve performance measures.
Manage the peer-review program and oversee provider productivity and coding, including conducting annual coding training.
Develop and implement clinical policies and protocols to ensure high-quality patient care.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to clinical operations.
Conduct annual performance evaluations for providers and coordinate specialty clinics.
Facilitate monthly provider meetings and training sessions, offering mentorship to new team members.
Maintain strong relationships with area hospitals and agencies to enhance care coordination.
Provide a comprehensive orientation program for new providers and clinical staff.
Qualifications:

Core Competencies:

A minimum of 2-4 years of leadership experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting is preferred, particularly with a culturally diverse population.
A thorough understanding of federal regulations related to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).
High standards of integrity, strong supervisory skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in physician leadership roles.
Experience in utilization management, quality management, and patient safety programs.
Strong decision-making, negotiation, analytical, and personnel development skills, including team building and mentoring.
Educational Requirements:

Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) with board certification in a primary care specialty, such as Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
Licensure:

Must have and maintain an active, unrestricted medical license in the State of North Carolina.
