Summary: Inviting applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Economic Development for the College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences.
Classification Summary: Assists the Dean in the planning, development, administration, and structuring the role of the College in rural and economic development of New Mexico and agribusiness and natural resources. Responsible for economic analysis, research, and planning to support decision making for the College, including coordination with Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and Cooperative Extension Service (CES).
Classification Standard Duties: Works with various special programs to enhance rural and economic development in New Mexico; collaborates with senior administrative staff for integrated planning and assessment; develops data structures for Key Performance Indicators. Coordinates community and economic development programs and serves as a liaison with state and federal agencies. Conducts investment analyses and provides annual economic impact assessments.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency: Earned doctorate (PhD) in a related discipline and tenured or tenurable at the rank of professor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Understanding of principles and standards applicable to the job; skills in planning, analysis, proposal writing, and communication; ability to maintain effective relationships and organize activities.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Assists the Dean in development and economic analysis for the College; oversees coordination of special programs; integrates and leverages resources across instruction, research, and extension. Conducts financial and economic analyses, develops community and economic development assessments, and prepares annual reports.
Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years in academia with a strong research record; familiarity with the Southwest; administrative experience in higher education; Spanish fluency is desirable.
