Essential Functions

  • Serves as working supervisor, preparing staff work schedules, assigning specific duties and reviewing work.
  • Processes receipts on Receipt Deposit Transmittals forms (C-64s) with the Illinois State Treasurer and Office of the Illinois Comptroller.
  • Reconciles all expenditures, receipts and fund balances with the Department of Central Management Services and Office of the Illinois Comptroller.
  • Serves as The State Fair Imprest Fund custodian.
  • Implements Department accounting policy and procedures.
  • Performs technical audits of travel, payment, and petty cash reimbursement vouchers for various department bureaus as needed prior to submission to Office of the Illinois Comptroller
  • Prepares various budget or accounting reports and projections as needed by management
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting.
  • Requires two years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Requires two years of professional experience in accounting, external auditing, budgetary planning and control or public accounting.
  • Prefers experience in at least three of the following ERM SAP modules: Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Accounts Payable (AP), Public Sector Collection and Disbursement (PSCD), Budget, Grants modules and/or HANA.

Fiscal and Budget Services at the Department of Agriculture is seeking to hire an Accountant Supervisor. The Bureau of Fiscal and Budget Services processes payments and receivables as well as payroll for an agency of over 300 employees. The candidate will assist in a supervisory capacity in the expedient processing and delivery of financial recordswithin and outside of the agency all while providing guidance and training within the bureau.
